An army of music artists and volunteers will turn Cape Town into a wonderland of sound and song as soon as the Pan African Space Station music festival hits a number of its stages from September to October. Settings consist of St. George’s Cathedral in Wale Street, Centre for the Book in Queen Victoria Street, along with Guga S’Thebe, within the Langa township.
Provided by Ntone Edjabe and Neo Muyanga of the Africa Centre, the Pan African Space Station is a ground breaking multi-genre music festival featuring an accumulation of music from Africa as well as other African-inspired music from abroad. The Africa Centre’s objective is usually to celebrate both the visual and gratifaction heritages of Africa through art and debate. Now in their third year, the PASS festival will likely be updated regularly online at http://www.panafricanspacestation.org.za. Here listeners can access interview clips, hear live jam sessions, guest DJ mixes, collaborations plus more !. My apartment in Cape Town is likely to be full of people, but the atmosphere on the event will involve it.
The event contains completely new natural talent with a wide selection of established performers and will be offering a mix of styles, striking a balance somewhere between traditional and cutting-edge sounds, and blends of the things in-between. Among the list of known artists which will feature within the festival are Kabako’s More More Future Band, several musicians in the DRC and France whose music serves as a “afro-futurist punk opera”.
South African guitarist Philip Tabane, who brings together southern Africa’s deepest and oldest polyrhythmic tradition together with free jazz-based improv, American hip-hop artist Georgia Anne Muldrow and Brice Wassy from West Africa will also be in performance. Electro soul artist Johnny Cradle, former Bongo Maffin lead vocalist Thandiswa Mazwai and popular kwaito DJ Mbuso finalize the South African line-up.
The two items that any traveller would need to do for such production, that is to reserve some appropriate accommodations such as houses in Cape Town or Cape Town apartment and go to the Creative Cape Town website.
